Symptom:
(public)
I am receiving unwanted e-mail such as Spam, Junk, and offensive messages.
I want to report it correctly and I want to know if there are some steps that I can take to reduce the problem.

Problem:
(public)
The access.k12.wv.us mail system uses several technologies to reduce the number of unwanted e-mail messages that are delivered to the users.
The system is not perfect and new sources of offensive and dangerous e-mail messages appear daily.
Attempting to increase the number of unwanted messages that are blocked will result in inadvertently blocking some valid good messages.
Simply forwarding a message to abuse@access.k12.wv.us does not include sufficient information for the complaint
to be investigated. See FAQ on reporting e-mail abuse.

Solution:
(public)
Any SPAM or offensive e-mail that is going to be reported as a problem needs to be forwarded to  abuse@access.k12.wv.us and it MUST include the full message headers. See FAQ on collecting message headers.

The method for displaying the full Internet message headers varies from one e-mail program to another.

Simply forwarding the message as it normally appears will not provide enough information for any anti-spam action
to be taken.

The person that originally received the message should do the forwarding to make sure the original message headers are not lost.

It is also acceptable for anyone to use the "junk" e-mail features of an e-mail program to manage junk mail.

It is not a requirement that abuse@access.k12.wv.us  be notified of every incident of offensive or junk mail.
